About Us

Tennessee Tailored at the Thornton Center is a comprehensive and customizable menu of academic programs and services to support Vol and Lady Vol student-athletes across all sports. Tennessee Tailored houses 21 full-time staff within three distinct and highly aligned units: Academic Services, Student Services, and Student-Athlete Development.

-
Academic Services staff include Academic Counselors who lead all phases of academic planning, monitoring, and intervention in accordance with University, SEC, and NCAA guidelines, from recruitment to graduation.
-
Student Services staff include Learning Specialists and part-time Academic Mentors/Tutors, who work collectively to manage academic risk through in-depth and on-going assessment, evaluation, and support for first-year students and identified caseloads.
-
Student-Athlete Development staff guide student-athletes through an array of programs and services in the areas of Career Development, Leadership Development, Personal Enhancement, and Community Engagement.

Part-time staff members are integral to the support provided to student-athletes and the operation of Tennessee Tailored. From subject tutoring and mentoring, to class checking and front desk assistance, all support staff play a unique role in developing independent learners and world-class citizens.

It is a team effort to ensure student-athletes have the academic and personal skill set to be successful on the field, in the classroom, and in life. Our part-time staff are a critical component to this developmental process, as we strive to make our services transformational, not transactional.
